Rawr!! Join us for "Stegastomp", a whole weekend of contra dancing in Harbury, Warwickshire to the stomping beats of Contrasaurus! With gender-free calling from Bob Morgan and Rachel Shapiro-Wallace, it will be a lively event for the community, with dances and workshops throughout the weekend. Tickets will go on sale on January 21st for £45, with catering tickets sold separately for £35, and an option to "give a little more" to support the festival. Stegastomp will be Friday 30th June 7.30pm to Sunday 2nd July 4pm, with indoor camping available, and an "everybody helps out" approach. For those who don't want to camp, Leamington Spa and Warwick are nearby. Dances will be called with ungendered role names, or positionally.
Tickets Standard tickets allow entry to the whole weekend, including all workshops and evening dances, and access to all facilities and tea/coffee/water in breaks. Supporter tickets offer no extras, other than a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Indoor camping tickets are free, but do not claim one if you will not need it. Only space on the floor is given, you'll need to bring a sleeping bag. There will be a storage room.
Note a shower is available, but is only a single cubicle, so you may have to shower at odd times.
Outdoor camping is not available on site, but nearby campsites and caravan parks are available. Hotels and hostels are available in Leamington and Warwick.
Food tickets include Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch.
Food Breakfast and lunch will be cold buffet food (vegetarian), dinner will be a hot meal (vegetarian). We cannot guarantee to meet all dietary requirements: contact us to discuss. There are no child-specific food provisions; facilities will be available for baby-feeding. There are no plans to provide any alcohol - we need to confirm restrictions on bringing your own.
Dances All dances and workshop will be called and taught using non-gendered role terms. There will only be one stream of activities between 1900-2330 Friday, 1000-2359 Saturday and 1000-1630 Sunday. There are no specific family/child events. Space will be available for non-dancers or people who want some time out, but it won't be sound-proofed from the main room. Organised evening dances finish at 2200 on Friday and 2300 on Saturday, this will be followed by a free-form dance/session (feel free to bring instruments). Due to indoor camping, "late-night" sessions will not be permitted.
Stewarding All attendees will be encouraged to perform some duties; there will be a sign-up sheet on arrival. This includes things like moving tables, washing up after breakfast, sitting on the front desk, etc.
